A total of 538 couples formalized their civil unions and received marriage certificates during the 2026 Collective Wedding Campaign. They included nearly 60 couples made up of workers affiliated with the Union of Day Laborers and Industrial and Maquiladora Workers (SJOIIM).

Mayor Alberto Granados Fávila and Matamoros DIF System President Anita de Granados led the ceremony at the Mundo Nuevo Convention Center.

SJOIIM Guidance Through the Application Process

SJOIIM’s Organization Department invited interested workers to participate and guided couples through the process. The team helped them gather documents and complete the procedures required to join the 13th Collective Wedding Campaign.

The union included its participation among the activities commemorating its 94th anniversary.

Organization Department members Alberto Niño, Martha Mireles, Jovabet Flores, and Crisógono González followed up on the applications and coordinated support for the affiliated couples.

Officials and Representatives at the Ceremony

SJOIIM Secretary General Juan Villafuerte Morales and Secretary for External Affairs Jesús Sánchez Alvarado accompanied the workers during the ceremony.

The municipal government, state government, DIF System, and Civil Registry supported the event. Guests included Astrid Lorena Pazzi Martínez, the Tamaulipas DIF System’s attorney for the protection of children, adolescents, and families, who represented the agency’s director general, Patricia Eugenia Lara Ayala. Alejandra Monzón, a representative of the State Civil Registry, attended.
