SJOIIM Conducts Seminar on Profit Sharing for Union Delegates

As part of its commitment to education and the defense of labor rights, the Union of Industrial Workers and Laborers of the Maquiladora Industry (SJOIIM) held an informative seminar on profit sharing, as established by the Federal Labor Law.

The seminar was directed at union delegates and their commissions, with the aim of providing clarity and tools regarding one of the most important economic benefits for workers: the sharing of company profits.

Informing is Complying with the Law and Protecting Workers

The event was led by SJOIIM General Secretary, Juan Villafuerte Morales, who reaffirmed the union’s commitment to keeping its members informed and well-prepared, especially regarding rights protected by law.

Key Points: Legal Framework and Procedures

The session was conducted by Accountant Ariel Gómez, who thoroughly explained the legal framework, how profit shares are calculated, the required payment timelines, and the documentation that both workers and companies must understand and comply with.

In addition, Jesús Sánchez Alvarado, SJOIIM’s Secretary of External Affairs, emphasized that the union strictly adheres to the law—particularly Articles 117 to 131 of the Federal Labor Law, which outline the rules for workers’ participation in company profits.

Active Participation of Labor Commissions

The seminar saw strong participation from members of the SJOIIM Labor Commission, including:

  • Marina Rocha
  • Enrique Silva
  • Jesús Mejía
  • Carmela Ramírez
  • Reynaldo Villa Sáenz
  • Magda Ávalos
  • Víctor Cervantes

Also in attendance were Accountants Noé Rivas and Jaime Pérez, who contributed their technical expertise on the subject.

Training that Strengthens the Defense of Workers’ Rights

The goal of this seminar was not only to inform, but to empower union delegates so they can properly advise their colleagues on their rights and obligations regarding profit sharing.

These types of training sessions promote transparency in labor processes and foster stronger relationships between workers and employers, ensuring that economic benefits are granted as legally stipulated.

Final Reflection

By conducting this seminar, SJOIIM reaffirms its commitment to ongoing education and the defense of labor rights. Providing timely and accurate information on topics such as profit sharing allows workers to exercise their rights confidently and strengthens the union’s role as a legitimate representative of the working class.

Through initiatives like this, the union not only complies with the law but also reinforces collective knowledge and consolidates its role as a transparent, responsible, and committed organization that stands by its members.
