Mexican Fiesta with Vendors at Mercadito Joaquín Amaro: Celebrating the National Holidays

Nothing stops an authentic Mexican celebration, not even bad weather. This was proven by the vendors at Mercadito Joaquín Amaro, who, despite the rain and poor weather, did not let the spirit of the national holidays fade away.

What was planned as an outdoor celebration at Plazita Fidel Velázquez in Colonia Sección 16 turned into a colorful indoor fiesta, where SJOIIM General Secretary Juan Villafuerte Morales led the traditional Cry of Independence.

Adapting to the Weather, But Not the Spirit

Although the activities were originally organized to take place at Plazita Fidel Velázquez, nature had other plans. However, this did not stop the organizers or the vendors, who quickly adapted the celebration indoors at the mercadito, maintaining the festive and welcoming atmosphere.

The festivities featured the participation of neighbors, vendors, and members of the SJOIIM Executive Committee, who enjoyed a night full of traditional activities and, of course, delicious Mexican snacks. The sound of music, laughter, and the aroma of typical dishes filled the place, creating an atmosphere that, despite the bad weather, captured the essence of the national holidays.

Cry of Independence Led by Juan Villafuerte Morales

One of the most anticipated moments of the night was the traditional Cry of Independence, and the honor of leading it fell to SJOIIM General Secretary, Juan Villafuerte Morales. Surrounded by flags, tricolor lights, and an enthusiastic crowd, Villafuerte remembered the heroes who gave us freedom and a nation. With a firm and emotional voice, he evoked the spirit of September 15, reminding everyone of the values of freedom, justice, and unity left to us by the insurgents.

The cry was received with applause, cheers, and, of course, the classic “Viva México!”. This moment not only pays tribute to the heroes who fought for the country’s independence but also serves as an opportunity for the community to come together and celebrate the best of our Mexican identity.

An Event That Overcame Obstacles

Despite the weather-related setbacks, the Mexican fiesta at Mercadito Joaquín Amaro was a resounding success. The community, the vendors, and the SJOIIM showed that when it comes to celebrating the depth of our culture, there’s always a way to push forward.

The traditional Cry of Independence, the activities, music, and food created an unforgettable night, full of national pride and camaraderie. As always, the national holidays are not just an occasion to remember the past but also to strengthen the bonds between all those who are part of a community united by their love for their country.
